Pickles
is just over one year old and already has developed a good
vocabulary. He lets everyone know when "Mommies Home! Yay!!!" or
"Daddies Home! Yay!!!" We assume he knows the sound of our cars because
he never misses. He will repeat most anything simple we say to him. When
one of our other birds (Crickett or Woody) is calling for attention,
Pickles will talk to them in our voices the way we would. It's quite
comical to hear Pickles tell Woody or Crickett how pretty they are or
Mommy / Daddy is coming. Pickles is quite good at hide and seek. He will
run (literally) around the house looking for us until he finds us.
Peek-a-boo his favorite game and he has taught us how to play it his
way, a mix of peek-a-boo and hide and seek. While Pickles try's to act
independent, he can only keep up the act if his "flock" (Mom and Dad)
are trying to get him to show-off for friends and/or relatives.
Otherwise he is unwilling to accept anything but full attention from us.
The Eclectus is a beautiful and talented bird.
