Iggy, the Pet of the Day
Name: Iggy
Age: One year old
Gender: Male
Kind: Green Iguana
Home: Riverside, California, USA

My iguana's name is Iggy. He is about one year old now. His species is Iguana Iguana or more commonly known as green iguana. He currently lives with me in Riverside, CA. He is definitely a city iguana. He has a big cage all to himself in my bedroom. Although, he rarely spends time in it. He is always running around the apartment... getting into trouble.

He eats his daily greens along with a few treats every now and then. He absolutely loves dandelion greens. His favorite human treats are tortillas, beans, and cinnamon rolls. He is currently two feet and eight inches in length STL (snout-tail). He sheds about once every month and becomes very grouchy. I usually try not to get on his bad side during this time.

Along with his interesting (human-like) mood swings... Iggy has a variety of facial expressions. He smiles when he is content and frowns when he is angry. Although iguanas do not have eyebrows, Iggy says a lot with his eye movements. I think that is part of what makes him so special. He is so human-like.

Iggy is not a very affectionate pet, but he has his moments. Sometimes he likes to curl-up underneath the blankets when I am sleeping. He enjoys hanging out on my shoulder a lot. This way he can see everything below him and feel protected. He definitely knows his name and my voice. Another special and convenient thing about Iggy is that he is potty-trained. Whenever he has to go to the bathroom, he runs over to his potty-box in my room and jumps right in. This took a lot of training, but definitely pays off now!

Iggy also loves to swim in the bathtub. He uses his tail to swim like Godzilla... it is a really neat thing to watch. In this picture, Iggy is begging for some cinnamon roll (of course). He is so very special to me! I don't know what I would do without him!
