Spike, the Pet of the Day
Name: Spike
Age: One year nine months old
Gender: Male
Kind: Bearded Dragon
Home: Missouri, USA

I have a lizard named Spike. He is a Bearded Dragon with a very great sense of humor. The reason that they are called Bearded Dragons is that when they feel threatened they flare their necks out and hiss. Bearded Dragons are a very interesting type of animal, but Spike is the weirdest Bearded Dragon that you will ever see in your life. He is very curious and always has a look of mischief in his eyes. He is always scratching on the glass of his cage trying to get out and so I let him out and put him on my bed, but about two minutes later he is scratching the outside of his cage; so I put him back in his cage and he wants back out again. This goes on all day; day after day.

He was the last pet that we got in our family and we have a dog and a cat that are very jealous of him. When we first got Spike my dog was barking at him and Spike flared out his beard and hissed at the dog. The dog ran off and has been very hesitant to go near Spike again. Spike eats a wide variety of foods. He eats lettuce, grapes, other vegetables, and a wide variety of bugs such as crickets and meal worms. The way I give him a bath is by filling up the bathroom sink and letting him swim in it. Over all he is about the most interesting animal I have ever seen.
