Let
me introduce you to our boy Donald :o) This picture was taken when
he was only one day old. My husband and I had incubated four eggs hoping
to get four ducklings but poor little Donald was the only one that
hatched and therefore he found himself alone in this big, scary world
:o( Right from day one he attached himself to my husband and I, never
letting us out of his sight. Needless to say, we became the proud
parents of a duck!
For about the first three weeks, Donald would come in the house every
night for his play and bath time. He started off in the kitchen sink and
proved to be quite the swimmer from day one! He'd dive underwater and do
laps around and around, completing at least three laps before coming up
for air. After about a week and a half, he graduated to the bathtub :o)
This proved to be an even better swimming hole as he had a lot more
water to dive into! We got a lot of enjoyment out of watching him and I
think Donald relished the idea that he was entertaining us.
Donald has a neat trick that my husband taught him the day he was born.
He loves to be flipped over and laid on his back. You can rub his tummy
and he will just let his head go limp and fall asleep. Donald proved to
be quite the cuddle bug when he was smaller. Where ever we went, he'd
follow and where ever you stopped, he'd snuggle up beside you or on your
lap :o) Unfortunately he is too big now and has his own home outside. He
loves it when we come to visit and feed him greens. He's quite the
chatterbox and I think he gets it from his dad. His real dad that is :o)
