Panda
was rescued from a local pet store. They had him in a fish tank too
small for him, so he couldn't lie flat as he's seen doing in the photo. He
didn't have enough room to sit up either, so his nose was in the dirty pine
shavings. He was suffering from potentially fatal pasturella disease, sneezing
so hard he would almost knock himself over. So I bought him last June and took
him straight to the vet. After two weeks of antibiotics, he was cured. Many
people think rabbits are supposed to be outdoor hutch animals, but this is not
so. Panda has been neutered and litterbox trained, so he is much like having a
cross between a dog and a cat in the house. Now that Easter is upon us, I hope
everyone takes into consideration that this is not an animal to be caged 24
hours a day, but one that requires the similar care and training of a dog and
cat.
Please visit the House Rabbit Society for
more information on the care and training of bunnies. It is very scary that my
local chapter of the House Rabbit Society has 137 rabbits who need homes, and
Easter only brings dozens more.
