Chandra
is a seven-year-old red lory. She's been with me since she
was three months old, and has been a wonderful, affectionate,
entertaining and loyal friend all these years. She has been with me
through many changes, and even seems to embrace change, as new
circumstances and environments stimulate her. She is bonded to an
eight-year-old dusky lory named Spunky, and was very gracious about
allowing him to share her territory when he joined our family
approximately six years ago.
Chandra and Spunky have occasional arguments and often try to end a
fight by yelling, "Stop! Just Stop!" at each other.
Although they know several phrases, speaking is not their best
talent. Most outstanding is their intelligence, playfulness and sense
of humour. Both birds spend a great deal of time running around the
living room, pushing small balls around in a game of "lory
soccer."
