Hello,
my name is Pepper and I'm a Sun Conure parrot. I think my human companions
picked a very good name for me as I am certainly always full of pep and I know I
add a lot of spice to their life. I am still a baby at nine months and my colors
will become much brighter as I get older. But, you must admit, I'm pretty
colorful already! I'm constantly being told that I'm a "pretty bird." I think I
get away with a lot because my humans think I'm so cute but I also give very good
kisses so I'm sure that helps too.
My favorite food is whatever is on my humans plate and my favorite game is to
have my humans chase me up their arm with their fingers. When I get to their
shoulder, I roll over on my back, scream, kick my feet and get my tummy tickled.
I think this is fun and they seem quite happy to indulge me. For relaxation, I
like nothing more than to have my neck and beak massaged.
Pepper is the newest addition to our family. We already have a cat -
RJ
(July 15th Pet of the Day) and a dog - Kuma (nominated, but has not appeared
yet). We have always wanted a bird but have been too afraid of the responsibility
involved and having a cat and a bird in the same household. Well, that all
changed one Saturday afternoon in a pet store. This brightly colored little
character caught our attention and his personality won our hearts instantly. He
came home with us and we haven't looked back. RJ has even accepted Pepper and has
never made any attempt to go after him - just watches with a quizzical look on
his face. Yes, Pepper is a big responsibility (a long term one too) and, as all
bird lovers know, he can be very messy. But, ask us if that matters. The answer
is "no" because the joy and love we get from the companionship of this
little feathered creature far exceeds anything we could possibly ever give him or
do for him.
