Charlie
is a very inquisitive leopard tortoise. He's almost three
years old and he was just a baby when we acquired him. He eats his
size in food every day! We feed him a wide variety of veggies from
collared greens, spinach, and lettuce to carrots, corn, and peas. His
favorite foods are red; such as tomatoes, strawberries, and
watermelon. He lives in a room with four guinea pigs and many, many
snakes in Richardson, Texas. When the weather permits, we put Charlie
and the guinea pigs outside in the same large pen to graze. Charlie
trots around, trying to keep up with the cavies. He just wants to say
hello, but all four of them always scurry away. Maybe we'll get him a
friend. Charlie loves to take baths. He sits in the warm water with
his eyes closed, soaking his rough feet. He also gets walkabouts
around the house and we really have to keep our eyes on him when we
let him explore. He moves a lot faster than you would think and it's
amazing how fast a tortoise can disappear! His favorite place is in
the corner behind the floor lamp. It is always interesting to watch
Charlie eat; especially when it's one of his favorite things,
dandelions. He has a lot of personality and will always greet you
when you pick him up. Charlie is a very special pet. To see more of
