Quatsi and Cihua, the Pet of the Day
Name: Quatsi and Cihua
Age: Two and a half years old
Gender: Male, Female
Kind: Green Iguanas
Home: Walton Co., Florida, USA

I have two green iguanas. Quatsi and Cihua are their names. They are male and female. They are approximately two and a half years old now. They live in Florida. Quetza and Cihua are about two and a half years old and a little over four feet long. They live in a very large cage, 6' X 3' and four feet high, for five months of the year. Then they are moved to a large outdoor enclosure for seven months.

They eat from my garden all year round. I grow their food, pesticide free. They are healthy and seem to enjoy their lives. Their favorite food from the garden is Collard Greens. I grow this food source year round for the herps. They also like most any fresh fruits, and an occasional slice of loaf bread. Whenever we have baked chicken, they also get a treat. They prefer to spend their days sunning themselves. They live in a rural area of Northwest Florida. Their nicknames were derived from the ancient Toltec god Quetzalcoatl and his female counterpart Cihuacoatl, of southern Mexico, where these animals thrived naturally. They were represented, on occasion, as Winged Serpents.
