This
is Astro, an approximately two-year-old Goffins cockatoo. He
lives with "mommy and daddy" in North Carolina and has had
an interesting, if short, history so far! His exact age is unknown,
since before his adoption he was stolen from a pet store. Apparently,
the thief would enter the store carrying a large bag, and would put
into it birds which were allowed to stand outside of their cages,
then would sell them on the black market. Fortunately, a neighbor
turned this person in and Astro was returned so that loving people
could adopt him.
He is a wonderful companion and a very smart bird. Recently he spoke
his first words--learned from a Taco Bell commercial!!! He is able to
mimic the sound of "Heeerrrre, Leezard, leezard" which was
in the Taco Bell chihuahua commercials some months ago! He also has
learned to laugh like "Tickle Me Elmo"!
Astro enjoys honeydew melon and strawberries, and is constantly
interested in the goings-on of daily life around him. He performs
great acrobatics, loves having his head and wings rubbed, and is
always "communicating"! We love and enjoy this little
rascal very much and look forward to many years of laughter and fun!
