Please
note: This is an exceptionally sad story.
This is my little orphan Ashes. He's a five-day-old mouse without a
mother. While my family and I were on vacation in Wisconsin we were
having a camp fire one night. As I sat near the fire it seemed as
though it was screaming. As I got closer to the fire I saw a helpless
pinkie rolling in the embers. I rescued it and adopted it.
Every two hours I had to get up and feed him warm milk. After a few
nights had passed, Ashes was growing more fur and his ears were
unfolding. On the fifth night when I pulled him out of his nest I
made for him he was lifeless. Ashes was like a child to me. I would
carefully feed him and be gentile with his delicate body. I poured my
heart and soul to keep Ashes alive, but failed. I now forbid others
to feed pinkies as food to reptiles. Ashes was the greatest mouse I
ever had.
