Scooter
is a one-year-old ferret who lives in Phoenix, Arizona.
Scooter joined our household at the ripe old age of eight weeks.
Although she had been handled frequently by the breeder, she was
spooked by life in general and her new family and habitat in
particular. Scooter earned her name very quickly by scooting across a
room with her body as close to the floor as possible with the hope we
would not see her. She would let us hold her, but her heart would be
racing and she had this apprehensive looked in her eye. About two
months after joining our family, her natural curiosity caused her to
spend a night "camping" in the bush in front of the house,
as she enlarged a small hole in the screen door. A miracle brought
her back home, and she now shows a much better appreciation of her
human family, as well as the other furry family members: Cinnamon, a
cinnamon colored ferret about two weeks older than her and Matti, an
eight year old Miniature Schnauzer. She now begs for her nightly
rubdown as soon as we arrive home from work, and frequently tries to
get a second and third session. Dad's shoes are one of our favorite
toys...
