This
is one of my green iguanas (Iguana iguana) His name is Bones, he
was given that name because, when we adopted him, he was literally
nothing but skin and bones. He has fattened up a lot since then. He
is a male, of course. He is approximately five years of age,
according to the previous owners. He is very, very special to me. I
nursed him to health and bonded very strongly with him during the
first months we had him. He is quite wary around other people, and he
mainly has a heart only for me. I treasure his trust and love. In
April of this year, Bones was in a fight with another male iguana,
and his left foot was nearly severed. Our vet tried valiantly to save
it, but in the end it had to be amputated. The stump is completely
healed now, and Bones has not let it get him down at all. He is still
a happy, healthy animal despite his "handicap." I think we
could learn a lot from Bones. In this picture, he is sitting on a
swing in our back yard, soaking up sun, which is vital for an
iguana's health. He loves sunning when it's nice and warm out.
