This
is Ricky (with Lucy in the background). Ricky is a Bourkes
Parakeet and we've had him about four years. His coloration is
absolutely beautiful, with deep rich blues and pinks. Bourkes are
very quiet birds and Ricky is no exception. He likes to chirp a lot
in the mornings and evenings but his voice is very soft and
melodious. Ricky is a very picky eater and mostly eats seeds but we
supplement his food with rice and corn nibblets. The bourkes fly low
to the ground and most of the time they enjoy walking on the floor
instead of flying! I read somewhere they are also referred to as
"grass" keets because in their native Australia, they are
found amid the grass. Ricky and Lucy both are sweet little angels!
