Cody, the Pet of the Day
Name: Cody
Age: Deceased, Five years old
Gender: Male
Kind: Blue Fronted Amazon
Home: Illinois, USA

Cody would have been six on June 11. but died on February 26th from Psittacosis. He was a Blue Fronted Amazon and lived in Illinois. He is currently in an urn in my Living room. The thing that makes him special to me is that I got him on February 7th 1999. I had him for two weeks and six days. I bonded with him. The last time I saw him, I think he knew he was going to die. He kissed me, and told me good bye.

Cody suffered from a disease call Psittacosis. I was disinfecting and cleaning everything for Cody's return. I called the vet, a great, great man. And he told me personally rather then let someone else do it. He said Cody had passed away five minutes before I called and that he had a seizure, and fell over. I did not think it was going to be an urn he would return in. I am full of sadness and great loss for a baby I only knew for two and a half weeks.

PSITTACOSIS: is a widespread disease caused by an organism called Chlamidia psittaci. The transmission of Psittacosis is primarily by inhalation of infected dust from droppings or feathers and is enhanced by close contact with sick birds who are shedding the organism.

I did not know Cody was sick when I got him. I am just happy that his last two weeks and six days where full of love and hopefully happiness. I got him from a private person consigning him at a pet store. I miss him.
