Mylo, the Pet of the Day
Name: Mylo
Age: Two years old
Gender: Male
Kind: Hooded Rat
Home: Toney, Alabama, USA

Mylo is one of my pet rats. I have two, the other one is named Buffy. Mylo turned two years old in July. He was pretty small when this picture was taken. He is a black and white hooded rat. Mylo is called a hooded rat because of the color markings that appear as a hood. There are many different colors of rats now. Some have a beige hood, or a gray hood and they come in a variety of solid colors as well.

Rats make cute and affordable pets. They are clean and intelligent pets. Mylo knows his name and comes to it. Most people are put off by their tails, which have hairs on them. This regulates the rats body temperature and helps it to balance. After you get over the tail there is a bundle and abundance of love to be given by these little guys and gals.

Mylo does know his name. His only trick, which he thinks he fools me with is taking all of his food out of his dish and hiding it in his hammock, which is a cutoff jeans legs he sleeps in. I hang it in his cage with safety pins, which he cannot get to from the inside. After he hides all the food he comes to the empty dish expecting me to fill it up for him again. I must admit when he first started the trick he did fool me. But I got suspicious and checked around his cage and found his stashed away food.
