My
family has a business where they trap and relocate wild animals in
Texas. You know the ones, the pesky little creatures that break into
your house like squirrels, skunks, armadillos, possums, and of course
raccoons.
Rocky was trapped in a wall and rescued by my step dad Trapper
George. He was crippled as a result of falling down in the wall and
he couldn't walk. His right elbow is fused and his left wrist is
damaged. I had two choices: Keep him or kill him. I couldn't destroy
him because he was too sweet so I rehabilitated him and he's been
with the family ever since. He has lived in Texas, California, and
Massachusetts so he is a well traveled coon!
He's very gentle and gives big hugs. He plays with anybody or any dog
or cat that can stand him. He has no problem taking on large St.
Bernards in a wrestling match. He's a great foot-warmer on the bed in
the winter months. He's the funniest dog anyone has ever seen
sticking his head out the window. and... he's a chick magnet! Rocky
gets all the girls.
A funny thing that happened was that he found a fortune cookie that I
was saving on the kitchen counter. I thought I had it pushed back far
enough that he couldn't get it. When I got home I found an empty
wrapper and the fortune on the floor and it read "Your Lovers Will
Never Leave You." Can you believe it? Even my pet gets better
fortunes than I do!
