He
still thinks he is a puppy! He is a good dog, for 104 pounds..lol. He is
very much like a Bernese Mountain Dog but with a shorter coat. The breed was originally
breed in Switzerland as guard dogs. Since the popularity has picked up in the
US, that guard instinct is not as prevalent, however he does lay between the
wall and the bed on my side. He really does not do any tricks yet, I have had
him for about one year, still working on getting used to each other. He does
like to play with a regulation size basketball.
His personality is not characteristic of the breed. He is fearful
of anything new. I let him figure it out on his own, makes him better equipped
to handle other new experiences. When he takes a notion to jump up he can touch
my cheek and I'm 5'6".
He is registered with the AKC. He is a fun dog to have, so full of
energy, and for this reason he would not be a good apartment dog. And of course
he eats like a horse... lol. The breed is very good with children, and is very
easy to maintain, other than a lot of hair that sheds. Zeke has done some
agility work, but has a hard time with the tunnels due to his size, but loves
all the other obstacles.
He is not a drooler; however he is a very sloppy eater and drinker...
so wear galoshes after Zeke gets done eating and drinking...
