||Three years old|
winter night three years ago, my son was walking through a parking lot
when he saw a cold, scrawny kitten. Patches arrived in my son's jacket
that night. A little heat and a lot of food fixed all his problems.
As an adolescent, Patches enjoyed going outside, getting into a fight and
coming home bleeding. We developed a feline first-aid station right by the
back door, and "patched" him up several times. All his wounds healed
nicely, but he still has several scars on his face.
Patches has always been curious about how things work. His ambitions in
life are to complete his thesis, "the unified theory of toilets," and to
become a fat cat.
