Originally
neither her nor I had anything to do with our mutual adoption
process. Children in the neighborhood were using her as a baseball. Just as I was
returning home from work I happen to catch her in mid-flight. She was 2 months
old. The vet suspected a crushed larynx...little hope to hear her meows. With
love she regained confidence and after about 9 more months tried out her
voice. Nowadays she is still not a big talker, but a giant lovergirl. (except
when she "catches" one of the play mice) at that point she has a howl that can
scare all hair into upright position. People ask "why BabyKat?" I hadn't planned
on keeping her. Just called her "that baby cat" :) and she still is.
Since we have moved to Arizona she has been an inside kitty only ( re:
scorpions) I am just too scared she'll get stung again. She was stung by a
poisonous scorpion the very first day we stayed at our new house, and her
health has been quite fragile since. Her happiness now is watching her birdies
from a window seat.
