Kali
is a white Boxer and is completely deaf. She is
obedience trained and knows approximately 23 hand signals. Kali means
"energy," and she certainly has a lot of it. Her favorite activities
are playing and chewing. She is a wonderful, loving pet.
Kali passed her CGC test in March of this year. CGC stands for Canine
Good Citizen, which is an certification awarded by the AKC. A dog has to
pass a series of 10 tests to obtain certification.
We knew Kali was deaf when we adopted her. She belonged to my
brother's neighbor. They wanted to dump her when they found out she was
deaf. The signs I use for Kali are mix and match. Some are ASL, (American
Sign Language) some are obedience commands, and some I made up.
