About Us
Josie, the Pet of the Day
Name: Josie
Age: Five years old
Gender: Female
Kind: Standard Poodle
Home: Anchorage, Alaska, USA

Josie and her sister, a black standard poodle named Oreo are the light of our lives. Oreo does not show up on pictures because she is so black, so we chose Josie as the Pet of the Day. Both of them smile when they are happy, and love to ride in our kayak, go skiing, mountain biking, and chase racquet balls!

Josie 5, and Oreo 4, are sisters each weighing about 50 lbs, though Josie is over an inch taller at 25" at the shoulder. They are loving and loyal, extremely intelligent and very intuitive. They've turned on a dime when commanded after scaring up a moose on the trails in Anchorage. Their favorite snack is pig ears. We have to use code words when referring to pig ears, because they can recognize the words even when spelled out. Standard poodles are water dogs, which we find humorous because while Josie can swim, she is not fond of the water. Oreo, on the other hand, loves the water but cannot swim. They both wear life jackets while kayaking. Josie has been clocked at 28 mph running along side my mountain bike. Poodles do not shed or smell, but need a haircut every three to four months. We call them forever puppies, because they entertain us daily with hilarious antics.
