My
name is Gazou, also known as Gadzoula (because after a day of
flying free in the bathroom, the place looks like a disaster area!)
We have only had Gazou for five months. He came to us as a refugee
from the great Quebec ice storm after his home lost power and to our
great joy, he stayed. Who would have a guessed a bird could liven up
a home so?
When he came, he was strictly a cage-bird and his wings were so weak
he could hardly fly. We got into the habit of letting him fly free a
few days a week and it made such a difference. Now in the morning,
he sits by his cage door and shakes everything until he is let out.
The bathroom is his domain (after I have put towels and tooth brushes
away of course). He flies all over. He loves to take his bath in a
puddle in the sink and to admire himself in the big mirror. He has
also adopted the plants: Canaries eat cacti?!?! And toilet paper? If
I forget to put away the roll, he heads straight for it!
When the disinfectant bottle comes out at the end of the day, he
heads back to his cage. He always gets a treat for being so
intelligent and well-behaved. His favorites are lettuce and fruit:
apple, pineapple, cantaloupe and watermelon.
Gazou always sings when the shower is running so we have some great
duets. He is really a wonderful little ball of sunshine which is why
he is so special.
