Boxers
are so special -- they are sweet, playful, wonderful with children,
and oh, are they funny. I've had a lifelong love affair with this breed.
Bessie has a doggie door that is open only
when we are home. When she sees the mail truck -- she dashes out -- barks to
say Hi. He brings her a "cookie" when she greets him. One day a substitute
mail man was on duty -- he heard this barking, of course he did not have a
cookie. Bessie's licking her chops running on our property and you can see
the look -- Where's my cookie?" The desperation in her eyes was so apparent.
Another Bessie story is when a 2 year old child was playing with her -- he
brought the ball, she would push it with her nose for him to retrieve. This
went on for about 20 min. Boxers and children are a great team.
In our area, everyone has Labs or Golden Retrievers. Bessie plays with her
Lab friends and they have very similar personalities. I call Boxers, Labs
without the hair and tails. They really are very clean dogs -- sort of drip
dry -- just rub them down with a towel and give them lots of kisses.
