About Us
Mother Goose, the Pet of the Day
Name: Mother Goose
Age: One year old
Gender: Female
Kind: White Chinese Goose
Home: Germantown, Wisconsin, USA

Meet Mother Goose with her one-week-old goslings (Doc, Grumpy, Sleepy, Sneezy, Bashful, Dopey, Happy and George). You have to look hard to see both Happy and George. Happy is the little yellow fluff at the end of the line of goslings. You cannot see his head. George is on the other side of Mother Goose and you can only see the yellow fluff in the triangle formed by the neck of Mother Goose.

Mother Goose is the best mother we have ever seen. Last spring, she filled her nest with 11 eggs. She sat on those eggs for 32 days, hardly even getting off the nest to eat. Eight of the 11 eggs hatched. She protected and comforted those goslings just as this picture shows. She kept them warm. She took them swimming in our pond. She did all this when she, herself, was an incubator-hatched gosling. She had never seen another Mother Goose to know what a Mother Goose needed to do! Mother Goose has been an example of the wonders of Mother Nature. Because we live on a hobby farm with a pond, we've been able to have large waterfowl as pets. There's nothing quite so beautiful as a pond with a dozen White Chinese geese swimming around. Although they are talkative, they have the beauty of swans.
