    R.I.P. Tier

My husband and I lost our nine month old kitten to Intervertebratal Disc Disease on June 23rd, 2005. I am still upset. I still get choked up. We mourn for, as my husband calls him, our perfect-tuxedo kitty almost daily it seems. I sit here and read the posts of fellow cat lovers and mourners and it is depressing. Tier would have been two this year. I feel like a terrible pet parent for we may very well lose one of the kittens we quickly obtained after Tier's death. Oh, I don't know. Sometimes I feel like pets are not meant to be in my life and that I am choosing the wrong career path. *sigh*

    We miss our kitty.

Tier was a very beautiful and cute cat. Don't feel bad, remember all the funny habits and cute things that Tier used to do, time really does heal. I hope the kitten is OK too. But you HAVE chosen the right path. I think that the world would be very lonely with no pets at all. You had Tier and the kitten in your life, and no matter how long you have them, you have loved them and cared for them. We all want our pets to live forever, and it hurts so bad when we lose them, but just remember all the good times. I really hope that you feel better soon. PM me any time you need to talk.

I am so sorry for your loss. I don't think we ever get over losing them. We just learn to live without them. And have faith that we will be reunited again.

When Kuhio passed away after 17 years, I remember being truly surprised that the sun rose the next day. How could it? My life was over. But, in time you learn to laugh and smile again when you remember your precious baby. They want us to be happy, so we do our best.

This poem helped me when I wasn't sure if I was brave enough to open my heart to another baby. I hope it helps you.

    Fragile Circle by Irving Townsend

"We who choose to surround ourselves with lives even more temporary than our own,
live within a fragile circle, easily and often breached.
Unable to accept its awful gaps, we still would live no other way.
We cherish memory as the only certain immortality,
never fully understanding the necessary plan."
Ask your vet about microchipping. ~ It could have saved Kuhio's life.

    I feel your pain

I feel the same way about my kitty that went to the rainbow bridge last march sometimes I cry even when I think about the good times. But then our little monster that we call Chloe almost a year old, comes into my room and somehow makes me laugh. She is so silly that is why I think to myself Pricilla (my kitty at the bridge) sent Chloe to us. She always seems to be around whenever I am sad or feeling lonesome. So if that can help at all??? Maybe trying to find another kitty the kind of kitty that your little sweetheart would have wanted you to have so that you weren't sad might be the answer????? I do completely understand how you feel. You should look at the little tuxedo kitty on the rescue site. It may be your calling to save this little guys life???(((Hugs)))) to you and your husband.

Losing a cat that was as sweet as your boy it hard. In one year, we lost 3 cats. Teeny Sylvia(only had her 2 days)to distemper in Sept '03. In May of '04, my beloved Miss BooBoo Kitty, at 16, lost her 4 year battle to kidney disease. Sept '04, My baby boy, Spunky died. He missed Boo terribly and had kidney disease. He was 14.5 yrs.
You will find that yes, you do think of them everyday. I remember ALL the good times we had, even with only 2 days with little Sylvia.
THey NEVER leave us. And they sleep softly...RIP dear Tier...

I wouldn't look at it as if you did something wrong, on the contrary.
Maybe, just maybe, you were the one Tier was sent to, because he knew the depth of your love, and that it's not how long you love, but how strong you love.

If we are only given a finite number of days on this earth, I don't think Tier would regret having spent every last one with you.

Godspeed to the Bridge, most perfect Tuxedo, Tier.
