are your cats ever scared of shoes?

I left my sandles in the kitchen tonight, and as I walked back in there, I saw Louise, she was just approaching them, very slowly
carefully, all stretched out,and ready to bolt if those strange creatures should happen to move!!! it was so funny, I have seen Muffin do the same thing at times. I"m sure alot of you have seen your cats do the same thing...

Bonzo does this with newspapers... well sometimes he does it to ANYTHING on the floor that might be out of place! He especially does this after I clean the house and rearrange things.

Mocha USED to atttack things when she was a kitten, but now that she's Daddy's Little Princess she acts as if it is beneath her. She plays with stuff like that but we aren't allowed to watch... SHHH, don't tell her but sometimes we hide and watch her.

Not here either, Yum Yum will chew on our shoe strings and Dutchess will lay next to them.

LOL Had to laugh...not on this end! Tinker will lie with her head completely inside a sneaker (if it's big enough). She will also lick any available areas--Nothin' like a good soul cleansing I guess!

I know what you mean, my cats, especially Max with sometimes approach something like a plastic bag in the same movement you have described - he probably doesn't recognise what it is at first. It is funny to watch.

SHOES - Max chews them if he is trying to catch your attention.

Peanut will do that with many things. Usually something new we brought in or if we re-arrange things in the house. She is a bit of a scaredy cat so she has to make sure everything is safe before she'll feel comfortable with it. When she is in bed with us, she will always stretch one paw out and tentatively "feel" then set it down. If that one goes good, she'll step with the other foot. We call that her "feeler" paw.

Tubby's not afraid of anything - 'cept the vacuum.

LOL LOL I just had to laugh at this topic. My Marius has a total shoe and foot fetish! He loves shoes and feet!! It doesn't matter whose shoes are lying on the floor, he'll find them and lie on them, or stick his face in them! Yuk! Especially when they're hubby's shoes! LOL LOL I was so embarassed when we had guests over one night, and Marius went right for our male guest's shoes when he took them off. We all laughed at poor Marius, then had to explain the foot/shoe fetish thing to our guests!
Even when I'm putting shoes on, Marius will be right there 'helping'! LOL
On the other hand, Scooter could care less...

Here are some shots of my Marius with 'his' shoes! LOL

Rascal loves shoes - but he especially loves the shoes of visitors and it is sometimes embarrassing to have to drag him off of a guest's shoes as he slobbers away.

It is as though he is saying "where have you been with these shoes, they sure smell good"
