Sorry I've been absent. My migraines have been terrible... and last week I found out a super good friend of mine from when I was a young kid that I have kept in touch with passed away.

He had been diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure last year, lost over 120 lbs, and never once complained. He just said, "well this is what it is" and went about his day.
He has a young daughter named Kennedy. She was the light of his life. My heart goes out to her.
I am so sorry, Scooter's Mom. Prayers for you that you get relief from your migraines, and prayers for you and all who love and mourn your dear friend. My condolences to you all.

Thanks a bunch Maggie. Now waiting for results of 2 MRI's late last week - maybe today or tomorrow. It seems the problems have probably been identified, but what caused them or how to treat, is up in the air at this point.

And on the Baltimore note - prayers that this settles soon with no further bloodshed , violence, or destruction of property and businesses. Glad I'm not having to see my spine specialist there right now, since Camden Yards is practically next to the hospital/med center, and I drive right past there on my way over. I need to get over there, but I'll hold off till things quiet down.
Oh, Ellie, I think I've lost my mind too.. somehow I confused your posting and Scooter's Mom's. I just now responded to hers.

My best wishes to you with the MRI results.. and I hope Baltimore settles down before you need to go see your spine specialist again. And I am always sending along the good wishes and prayers for you with your spine.. being in the same boat myself. All seems to be well with mine, knock on wood..

That would be so funny. To me anyway. I have found that most people in the South do not have a sense of humor or a sense of the ridiculous. When I find someone that does, they are usually a transplant or have lives elsewhere for a while.

One pet peeve. She keeps mum about a lot of stuff and doesn't want any help. She did want me to keep her cats during this move, but I couldn't do it. Mainly because I have no place to put them. I was her second choice because she couldn't find her mom. But the cats made it to her mother's and that's good.

So, my friend found another place that was nicer with a nicer landlord. He didn't like cats for starters. He would also give her husband something else to do in addition to flooring and then complain when the flooring work wasn't done. She said the landlord was creepy, so I'm glad she moved or tried to.

The story isn't over. The electricity at the new place wasn't turned on yet, so they were moving stuff at night with a flashlight. Some neighbors saw this and called the police. Her hubbies two friends were there, looking suspicious (?), so the cops searched them. The hubbie does black market prescription pain killers and refuses to quit. He had some on him. He is in jail.

I think she's had enough. He doesn't have the money to bail out and she won't do it. So she's at her mom's. Hopefully they'll keep him in jail until he's through withdrawal. She told him that he quits or she is gone.

Personally, I would have done that well before we were married, but that's me.

    Just an update.

    Sigh.

That's a very good sign that she won't bail her husband out! This is an opportunity for her and she took it.

Ellie, still sending good wishes and prayers for a good outcome with the new tests and all. Hugs!

Scooter's Mom - what a sudden and sad and huge loss for you. Prayers and hugs!

I am requesting good thoughts and prayers for my mom.

She is holding her own. The waiting is very stressful on her and she isn't well to begin with. The "waiting" is to see a BP specialist on May 5th who will hopefully resolve her low BP issues. She has drops in BP when she stands up, possibly as a result of her condition and definitely as a result of the Sinemet, the Parkinson's med she is on.

So...get the BP handled, adjust the Sinemet, re-adjust the BP med (probably), and start her on the month-long trial for a CPAP machine. (She stops breathing about 41 times per hour, according to her sleep test. And she's SKINNY!).

I really hope that putting all these things together will help her feel better. She can't be cured - be being more comfortable is the goal here.

    Thank you.

It is, and you know the law-abiding citizens of Baltimore are the ones who will pay the price, in terms of the city's reputation, damage to businesses ...

Pomtzu, how are you? Did you get any results from those tests, etc?

Yes - Baltimore normally is one of the calmer and more relaxed and hospitable of the big cities. It's a shame that they are being dragged down by relatively few trouble makers.

No - nothing on the MRI's yet. The CT scan I had before these, detected some major issues and prompted my doctor to order the MRI's, since the MRI's are much more precise and exacting, and can further visualize what the CT can't. And in the meantime, last week I also started my 5 week i.v. iron infusion to combat the dangerously severe anemia that is plaguing me. I go to the infusion lab at the hospital once each week for an i.v., and about 3 weeks after I have the last one, then more lab to check my iron level. Hopefully it will be up and stay up. I had this once before about 5 years ago, and it worked wonders. Hoping for the same results this time. Now to get other issues resolved!!!! Several different ones all smacked me down at the same time - around mid-December. I'm just so darn weak and tired -feel like I have the strength of a newborn kitten............

    Thanks for asking, Karen.

Dear Ellie, we're sending loads of good wishes and love and prayers for you with all that's going on. I hope the iron infusion will work as well as the one you had before, and the MRI results will be promising.

Same goes for me! I hope the iron treatments will be very helpful and the MRI results will help move your care forward.

And hoping you are finally getting some relief from those migraines - I had a bout on Sunday and Monday. Just shoot me!

Prayers for your Mom, Candace - and for you too.

I just "don't get" the Canadian healthcare system. I can't believe that they make one wait so long for an appointment for a serious issue - this could be life-threatening. Another Canadian friend has told me so many of what I view as "horror stories", regarding what gets paid for, how long you have to wait, what your doctor is allowed to treat, and on and on. At least here in the States, if your doctor orders a test or procedure or consultation, it isn't (IN MOST INSTANCES), ever questioned, and it is preformed in a matter of days - or immediately if that's what the doctor requests. So many folks here complain about the healthcare system - they don't know how lucky they are.

No - no fun at all. And if it wasn't for the Wolfman/TwinkleToes/PinkBelly, I don't know where I'd be. Many a day, he has been the only reason I get out of bed, and I wouldn't if I didn't have him to take care of. I have to get up, take him out to potty, and then get him his breakfast. Of course, many has been the time that I'm just so exhausted, that I go back to bed after taking care of this. He's such a little gem, that he comes right back to bed with me, and doesn't mind in the least. He knows Mom isn't feeling too great, and he is determined to try to make me feel better. A dog's 6th sense absolutely amazes me.

My doctor called this a.m. - she wants me in her office tomorrow at 10 to "discuss" the results of the MRI's. Feeling somewhat apprehensive, but the issues won't just go away if I don't think about them...................
