Yesterday my stepson was visiting. He parked his cherished vintage Cutlass in the street and was in the garage with his father. A robin fell in love with his car! The robin was jumping up and down -- on the mirror, looking into the mirror, on the ground, back to looking in the mirror.
Whether it was his way of expressing his excitement or a result of his excitement, the bird doo dripped all down the purple polished and waxed finish. That robin just kept bobbin' along. Edwina and I sat in a window and watched him for at least half an hour and he never stopped. He was on that car from at least noon until about 5:00 when my stepson went out and washed the droppings off. He wasn't all the way back inside the gate before the robin was back bobbin' (and pooing) on the car! Fortunately, Derek had a sense of humor about the whole thing.
Somewhere in my back yard, there is a robin pining away for his beloved Cutlass (ah Spring!)
