    Reflective eye colors

I noticed in my sig that all of my dogs eyes have a different reflective color. Raustyk's are kind of gold in color, Nanook's are green & Kaige's are red.
Like a stop light, Red yellow & green. lol

Does anyone know why they are different colors?
Soar high & free my sweet fur angels. I love you Nanook & Raustyk... forever & ever.

Hmmm, I don't know why. Good question. Would it just have to do with their individual eye color? Maybe someone can tell us. Tori's are always red and Katie's always seem to be gold maybe even green.

It has to do with SOMEthing, I'm quite sure.

    Here's something I found:

You may have noticed that some animals’ eyes reflect light at night. Deer, cats, crocodiles and even moths have eyes that do this and it’s because they have a tapetum. A tapetum is a reflector at the back of the eye that effectively doubles the amount of light the eye can use, helping an animal to see at night. Humans don’t have a tapetum. The only time their eyes seem to reflect light is when they look red in some pictures. This is just the camera flash bouncing off the red tissue in the back of your eye.

I'm assuming after it is reflected off the tapetum the color has to go back through the eye and eye color MAY affect it (but if you've looked, its always the pupil that refelcts the light and not the actual iris itself.

There was just a big discussion about this on a husky email list I'm on. It's related to eye color, but I can't recall the specifics. Blue eyed dogs will almost reflect a true red eye. My blind dog's eye reflects a different shade of green than any of the other dogs.

I really like this poll, it's so interesting. I had never thought about it before.
I looked through some pictures and found that Charlie's eyes reflect green and Nacey's reflect blue. I couldn't find any of Bitsy, Buster, or Nova with glowing eyes, but that's because I'm on the laptop and my pictures are mostly on the desktop. I seem to remember Busters being orangish, but I'm not sure.

Niño's is a bright and beautiful blue! Layla's blue eye was really pretty red and you could still see the blueish.

Rebel's reflect bright, medium/dark blue and Claire's reflect what I'd call a pink color
