I haven't mentioned it yet because I wasn't sure how things would work out but I recently started working at our "No Kill" shelter. Due to the financial status of the shelter and for me I'm not sure how permenant this will be. I'm already getting into trouble!
Unfortunately URI and pnuemonia are running rampant right now and there are so many sick cats. It's spreading and getting worse by the day.
This little guy was found several weeks ago in a box on the shelter porch. His back leg was broken. He was checked by the vet, casted, and kept at the shelter. Due to some real bad advice from a former employee he was kept in a cage with no litter box!! How stupid is that???? She told volunteers that the vet said because of his cast he couldn't have litter!!! So the poor little fellow had to do his business in the cage and drag his cast through it.
When I first saw this I contacted the vet immediately who was blown away by the stupidity of the former employee. His cast was soaked in urine and he stunk to high heavens! When the vet came in his cast was immediately removed, I cleaned him up, and put a litter box in his cage. He smelled so bad we all almost threw up trying to get the cast off of him. He was so happy to have a place to go potty!!! Poor baby!
Now, he is one of the very few kittens that's not sick so I decided to bring him home so hopefully he will stay well. I feel like he's had enough to deal with in his very short little life.
His name through the shelter is Sunshine but I don't like that at all. It sounds too girly.
He is currently in my cage here and having a ball! He has to stay cage bound until his leg heals completely. He has been playing like a little madman through the bars with all my Brats and he is loving it! So are the Brats!
Are you ready for some very serious cuteness???
I LOVE this pose!
You can tell how hard the move from the shelter to our house was on him. He's not relaxed at all!!!
Yes, I'm supposed to be fostering him so go ahead Catnapper and lay it on me! I deserve whatever you can throw at me when it comes to fostering 101! It just had to be an orangie boy didn't it????
