Bijou's first visit to the dog park (9 PICS)!

I finally got my courage up and took Bijou to our local dog park, a wonderful little 12-acre fenced-in park just a couple of miles from my house...it was such fun! She loved everything about it, and I was more relaxed than I thought I would be, once we got through the gate I didn't take any pictures of the puppers she met (and she did beautifully with the six or eight dogs that came over to say hello to her, I was soooo proud of my collie girl!) since it was our first time and I didn't want to scare anybody off, but I did take some of Bijou enjoying herself:

Here she is, already "sniff-happy" just inside the gate!


She finally got the hang of things -- she was free!


She loved everything from the wild flowers to the prairie grass!


"Hurry up, mum, you walk too slow!"


Look at that tongue! It was a scorcher here today!


I just loved seeing her stand so straight and tall -- she looked so happy!


She's at the base of a little hill...just about ready to run her mad-dash circles!

Bijou is gorgeous!! How exactly do you pronounce her name, very unique. That park looks very nice and I bet Bijou loved it!

Bijou is sooooooo gorgeous! She does look very happy. Aren't you glad you finally went? I like going to our dogpark - its so fun to watch all the puppers. ours is under 2 acres, though. you've got 12?????? Fun Fun Fun!

Kfamr, it's pronounced ("bee-joo") (a soft j sound, not like the J in July) -- it means jewel in French. She was definitely our little diamond in the rough when we adopted her from the rescue in February! I grew up with a tri collie as a girl (my father named my childhood collie "Tai-tai" which means "lady" in Chinese), so to find one for my very own as an adult was really such a treasure...

Guess we have a bit of a thing for languages!

Do you see many Collies where you live? Whenever we bring Molly to the dog park, people (meaning the non-regulars.. the people who regularly visit know us very well!) are always excited to see a Collie, since they aren't too popular over here.
