Sam's doing well, and enjoyed her trip to Lexington today;
she was able to play with some other children, and was measured by the prosthetist.
Even though she had a late night last night -- and was up at 3 a.m. for a while --
when I woke her up at 6:00 to leave, she stayed awake for most of the ride,
watching a Wiggles DVD.
She was quite the social butterfly at Shriner's, greeting everyone,
responding with "fine, thank you" to all who asked how she was,
and she's also telling people she'll be 3,
which -- unbelievably -- happens next week!
The casting takes place at our next visit, which should be within a couple weeks, and then the inpatient stay for the actual fitting will follow a few weeks later, and I'm now told it will be 3-5 days, instead of 2 weeks. (The longer stay will occur when she gets legs w/knee joints.)
She slept nearly the entire way home.
She had a cold and cough most of the week, but is feeling better;
she went to preschool one afternoon last week, but rested up at home the remainder.
I also wanted to let folks know that a local motorcycle club,
headquartered in Bethel, will be having a benefit for Sam on Saturday,
March 11th, starting at noon, and it sounds like it'll be quite the affair,
with news crews, a D.J., food, raffles, and lots of people;
for those of you in the area, it's at 2845 SR 133, in Bethel, at Hardtail Cycle.
These very generous folks have put lots of effort into this for Sam,
and we can't adequately express our gratitude.
Next Friday it's back to Children's for the kidney check-up.
Thanks for the continued prayers,
Jessica
