    Graham DOES love Cassie!!!

Just a quick description of today's trip to the dog park. When I got to the dog park there was only one other dog, a rotweiller named Zed. He's a real nice dog but real playfull and while Graham was off doing his own thing Zed and Cassie were playing, Zed was running and Cassie was chasing, when Zed decided he wanted to "ruff house" with Cassie and he turned to her and started barking his big, base filled bark at her. She was not sure what to do about this big dog barking in her face, so she started to cower and then Graham came running as soon as he heard the barks and saw that his "sister" was uncomfortable. He RAN full speed ahead, put himself between Zed and Cassie and growled and barked at Zed. Graham was protecting his sister! Graham continued to "stand guard" until Zed backed off. I was so moved and amazed. I still have not seen any signs of friendship between Graham and Cassie, but this was a sign that there is love between those two. Graham would have fought that rotweiller if that was what it would take to keep his sister safe. I told Graham over and over what a HERO he is! Zed would not have pulled anything, he's a sweet, gentle dog, but Graham did not know that

What an angel I am so proud of him, so proud of both of them.

Awwwww, that's so sweet!!! Graham is certainly a hero! That's definitely a brother/sister relationship. Actually, sounds like my brother and me growing up...

Hooray for Graham!! What a hero! I know how wonderful that must have made you feel. I bet Cassie was just so proud of her big "brother" sticking up for her too! That is a wonderful story. When I had my poodles, my miniature (Ashley) was the ringleader over my standard (Whitney) even though she was about half the size. I think it was because Ashley was here first. Well, anyway I used to feel sorry for Whitney sometimes because she was always so affectionate to Ashley but Ashley was sort of aloof to Whitney. One day in the yard they had been romping around and Whitney let out a little yelp. She had twisted her leg. Ashley came running over full speed ahead to her side (with her tail pointing straight down with concern ) and then accompanied Whitney to the back door. My heart almost burst with happiness to see how she cared!

What a great brother!! Your heart must have burst with pride and love!! Great job Graham! You're a real hero. Cassie must feel so proud to have such a protective "big brother!" Hugs and kisses to them both.

I knew it, I just knew it. It takes time but the love does take root. I know how great it must have felt to watch this. THE BEST! You got to be so proud of Graham for stepping up to the plate like this. And certainly the beautiful boy can be completely forgiven for the "you know what" incident.

You just watch, over the months and years you will see the affection and interaction more and more.

Aw that's adorable! What a sweet story. You have a very good doggie family I wish I could get Daisy a brother or sister but it took me 13 years of begging to get HER... there's no way I'm getting another

Thank you for your comments, everyone. I have so much awe in my heart at his act, it's still so hard to believe and so touching. Nothing else has changed since then, they still act like roomates, not really paying attention to each other or playing...that act of bravery did not convert either of them to become best friends, however. Hey, at least they never fight

And yes, Rachel, I have forgiven him completely for his not so kind act to that squirrel on Christmas Eve
