I have a sock eater...

Socks are disappearing...and its not the dryer!
My 4 month old labbie boy Jack has a problem of eating socks and his toys, he swallows them whole and pukes them up later, I don't know why he has started this, just in the last week he has puked up 3 whole socks and 2 of his toys (large pieces of his stuffed toys), how do I get him to stop and why do you think he has suddenly picked up the habit? I am afraid that if he doesn't puke it up next time we will have a major problem! Please help!!

i don't know what to tell you....but JACK sure is cute lil thing...
might want to ask your vet.....and uhhh...keep the socks off the floor

All's I can suggest that you pick up after yourself in
the sock department and keep them out of reach.
He is just a pup, and eventually.................
he will mature/with training he will leave your stuff alone.
He looks like such a doll.

just clean up ur socks.does he have a knotted sock 4 a toy that u gave him?if so then he probably thinks that ur socks r his toys.4 the pukeing thing get him toys that can not be eaten.like a hard tire at petsmart.

our dog is a sock eater and we now keep all of my socks (women's socks tend to be thinner, smaller and easier to eat) in a box on the top shelf of the closet. When I do laundry with my socks in it he's not allowed anywhere near and its helped.

This obviously doesn't solve the problem of him wanting to eat the socks, just his access to them.

OMG be careful, my dog Tito did the same thing and we had to operate to remove a pair when he was 4 months. After this we were SO careful with him and socks (and plastic bags, and toothbrushes, etc etc).

Please just keep all the socks way out of his reach!!!

Jack is getting much better, we have been throwing away his old stuffed animals that are stuffing-less and have been giving him many peanut butter bones to keep him busy and also keeping all closet doors shut but it still doesn't help the problem, if someone accidentally leaves a sock somewhere hes got it...

my labbie Emma ate socks, zippers,plants, and anything else she could get her paws on. The vet diagnosed an eating disorder. I hope this isn't the problem with your labbie! Emma would eat her whole dog bed, zipper and all!

I am new here and I need some help if possible my puppy of 7 months eats everything he can. he as eaten holes in blankets, the quilting out of the blanekts the foam in my couch coushions. I don't know what to do. I have blocked him out of the livingrrom and don't let him have ant blankets. I am wondering if he will need to be operated for all the stuff he has eaten?

What I would suggest would be to take the sock off of him and give him a toy in his mouth instead we got told to do this when my dog bit as a puppy and it seemed to work maybe it will do the same? also please dont give you dog any rope toys!!! there was a post in the dog chat that showed a poor dog that chewed up a rope toy and swallowed some and it cut up her insides, have you tried a toy made for a bigger dog? like a black kong? there are very strong also a galliath bone is rock hard so you pup cant chew through it, but please make sure they are suitable for you pup so it doesnt damage his teeth, I cant give my dog soft toys as they just chew them up after 10 mins
