    Keiko's future is still uncertain.

Keiko's future is still uncertain because so little is known about whales in general and reintroducing them into the wild in particular.

One of the small shocking details is that there is a concern about water quality once a nearby fish farm is constructed. CNN's story lists the places Keiko may be moved to. It is very sad that even the Icelandic water may become unfit for a whale.

CNN has an update on Keiko.

Keiko News Central seems to be an excellent site for news including Keiko facing relocation decision.

Ocean Futures Society's KeikoWatch also has lot about Keiko including photos. In June he played with members of a pod which included a wild whale who also has a bent dorsal fin. Ocean Futures is a merger of the Jean-Michel-Cousteau Institute and the Free Willy Keiko Foundation.

I thought I was the only one keeping tabs on Keiko from this board. I'm from the San Jaun islands area in Washington, sure miss watching J-pod (the resident pod) from my brothers front porch on Orcas Island.
I hope to get over for a vacation in Dec. so I can go to the museaum there.

Oh, no. I am too. I visited Keiko while he was at the Oregon Coast Acquarium at Newport, Oregon. His health improved greatly while he was there, but current pictures show him looking even better. It's always been my hope he is never released. He's been hand fed too long to make it on his own.

I also follow Keiko's story. There was a large press coverage over here just a couple of days ago.

We had a news report on ITN about Keiko this afternoon. Plans to release him are centered around the annual migration of Orca North. He has been taken out to sea several times, has seen and even approached wild Orca, but has returned to base every time. Given the time and a gradual hands off this is almost certain to work but funds are almost gone.

He does look stunning though - you would hardly credit it was the same animal!

I hope Keiko is freed and enjoys his life in the wild, where he belongs. After all, he deserves it. I hope that they "Free Willy!"
