Let my start by saying that if Bud and/or Tash went missing for ANY length of time, let alone "some time" and someone phoned to say they might have them, I would be there awfully quick. Well, I phoned the SPCA at 2 minutes to 5 to see if the people identified the pup as their dog, well, they were so excited that someone may have found their dog, you know what they did? NOTHING!!! They didn't show up at all to see.
I agree if any of mine would be missing and someone called and said they thought they had found them, I would do whatever I had to get there to find out. I would be so sick with worry since none of mine are used to be out in this weather at night. I can't imagine a dog owner who gave a damn not getting there as soon as possible. I too, hope they don't show up so you can have this dog. He is too cute to be treated like he is being treated!

Well, as of 3 this afternoon, the people had still not been in to see him. I sure hope they have decided that they are incapable of, or not interested in keeping him.

The SPCA figures he is about ten months old, is not fixed, and is in overall good physical condition but they want to get a little weight on him.

I asked about the adoption process and was surprised at how reasonable it is. I can adopt him for $210.00 which includes his first vaccinations, de-worming, neutering, and his city tag (good for one year).

Now I can just sit, wait and hope as he will not be available for adoption until Monday.

You guys are right: Even if it doesn't work out with him, I now know that I am able and willing to rescue another dog somewhere down the road who will be every bit in need as this one (though right now I really want this little guy). What really "sold" me on him is how sweet he was even though he was completely terrified and in a very uncomfortable and unfamiliar situation. I am only guessing certain things about his past by his behaviour, fear, etc., but it is not hard to tell that he has not had it real easy in life so far, but was still so sweet: That shows great character to me!

    A "suggestion"...

"Rescues" sometimes work in STRANGE ways...

Call em up or better yet - GO IN and fill out their pre-adoption
"paperwork". They may require a home visit to "check you out".
It would be a shame to find out they let someone ELSE adopt him because
the other folks had their "paperwork" already done and you didn't.

Might try putting a "deposit" down on him - so YOU get first dibs.

And I wouldn't be bashful about reminding them that it
was YOU that "rescued" him from the wilds!!

    Good Luck!!

That's a great idea C&S. I would definately do that because once the waiting period is over, he could end up being put down before you have a chance to get there.

Fingers paws and tails crossed with a "pleaseohplease" in my thoughts for you and ... and? Have you even thought of a name or would that be premature at this point?

Yes lbaker, it is premature at this time, and yes, I have spent a fair amount of timing thinking about a suitable name!! But I still haven't come up with one that I like.

Well, I am not surprised, but I phoned just before closing time again today, and the "owners" had not been in. Things are looking up, more so each day!! T -minus 77 hours and 51 minutes 'till I am standing outside the SPCA to adopt my new puppy!!
Cinder & Smoke: I did not get a chance to call before they closed to take your advice today, but I did leave a message "after-hours" to the effect that I WANT FIRST DIBS so hopefully they will call in the morning, or I will give them a call.
