    My color changing dog

Take a look at these pics...

    Taken May 2004

And this one taken January 2005 (today)

I know lighting in the pics is some of it, but his coat really does change colors for different seasons.

Lame thread I know but I find it interesting. Anyone else have "color changing" dogs?

Yes Emily definitely is darker in the winter than the summer.

I'll have to see if I can find any pics that show the difference.

Muskwa does the same thing! He's a red husky too. In the summer he goes very pale--might have something to do with the 24 hours of light up here! In the winter he gets much darker.

aww, Nebo has the prettiest coat colors. I have heard that dogs that are out in the sun a lot get bleached by the sun... some black/white Border Collies will turn almost red/white! I don't know if that is the case though . It could also be that his coat is thicker.

the sun will bleach a B/W BCs coat red in certain places but not all over the dog lol just under the ears, and around the tail. this happens to Happy, the fuzz behind her ears turns red in the summer.

The darker color attracts(sp) the sun witch keeps your pup warmer in the winter and the light color in the summer keeps your pup cooler.

Maybe Nebo loses his tan over the winter. LOL. I do
see the difference. Smokey stays black pretty much all the time.

It seems like Major is a color-changing dog as well! Of course it could be just him going darker since he is still growing.

Oscar doesn't change colors for the seasons, but his coat is changing a lot as he grows. I'll have to see if I can get a decent current picture.
