Do you need a passport to go to Mexico?

I was just wondering if you need a passport to go to Mexico. If so, how much do they usually cost? I'm guessing you would need a passport to go to any other country too.... I plan to be an exchange student in the school year of 2008-2009.... Just wanted to get some estamates now so I can save up some money....

Passports are somewhere around $70. It's been about 5 years since I got mine, so I'm not sure. It's more if you put a rush on it.

You don't need a passport for Mexico or Canada if you're from the US.

I didn't need one when I went to Mexico.

Here is what I found on a website:

It is recomemended, but the following items are acceptable alternatives for U.S. and Canadian citizens when accompanied with a valid photo ID:

    An original birth certificate

    U.S. or Canadian naturalization papers

    A notarized affidavit of citizenship

    A valid voter registration card

(I don't remember showing any of those things when I went to Mexico or Canada though. I think I just showed my drivers license)
    Alyson
    Shiloh, Reece, Lolly, Skylar
and fosters Snickers, Missy, Magic, Merlin, Maya

You don't need no stinking passport..

If you are trucking back and forth over the CA border....

Nothing to go down, you'll be stopped and asked 'Where are you from" on the way back....show your DL and away you go....

DO NOT ANSWER The question this way..

    "Where are you from?"

    "My mother....."

Customs officials do not take kindly to that kind of humor....

Haha, ain't that the truth! We went to TJ this weekend, and I made the mistake of driving my truck. Here in Modesto, my truck is so cool and custom. Down in Southern California, my truck looks ghetto and like trouble. Once I got down there and saw what kind of people drive vehicles like mine, I wanted to get rid of my truck! Anyways, to make a long story short, they made me pull off to the side and they did an extensive check of the truck. I can't blame them. Probably not used to seeing a preppy white girl in a ghetto truck. lol.

    Thank you Wolfie!
