    Poor Little Chester

My poor baby. He went out to potty about an hour ago and came back in and scooted his rear on the floor. He scooted all the way from one end of our living room to the other. Michael and I snickered at him until he got on my lap and I saw that the base of his tail was raw. And I mean RAW, no skin left. Poor baby has a BAD case of carpet burn.

We dabbed a cotton ball soaked with peroxide on it, and then put some neosporin on it. He's left it alone since, but he'll have the cone on tomorrow and be crated. I get goose bumps when I think about him scooting anymore on that raw spot. *shudders*

It's pretty big, too, about the size of Michael's thumb nail. Pretty much the whole base of his tail, where he has no hair.

ouch, sounds painful. I know getting carpet burn on my knees hurts alot, but near my butt would drive me nuts.

Hope he gets better super quick

Poor Chester. I guess if he leave it alone and you keep putting the ointment, it should heal pretty fast.

Ouch, poor Chester! Does he do that quite often? I'm not sure, but I think I heard or read somewhere that could indicate a problem or infection in the anal glands???

I thought that meant that their anal glands need to be exercised (vets can do this). It's very uncomfortable for the dog, so I'd take him in ASAP...

    Poor Chester.
Booty scooting is ussually a sign of anal glands that are in need of being expressed, or if left for too long may become impacted &/or infected.
