My husband got a dog in Iraq!!!

I got an email from my hubby in Iraq today. Here's some of what he had to say!

" We also have a new pet. A
puppy showed up at the shooting range and I don't know
who adopted who. She came right up to us and wanted us
to rub her belly and play. She's a smart little thing
within an hour she knew sit, roll over and shake.
Anything for a Vienna sausage. Today we are going to
clean her up hopefully and spray her, if she will
cooperate. We named her "Richochette" (Rick-o-shay)
and I think she is going to be around for a while.
Typical Americans and dogs, always a soft spot when it
comes to dogs. Well anyway everything is allright so
don't worry. Don't beleive everything you see on CNN.
The British BBC give a more realistic account of whats
    going on here. "

"Hey again, Just a quick note to let you know I'm
thinking of ya. The dog loved her bath, she just sat
in the tub and let us scrub her. But, once she was out
she rolled in the dirt. I was suprised, no bugs or
open sores, seemed pretty healthy. I'm going to try to
find the camp vet to see about shots, etc. "

What do you think of that? I think it's just sooooo sweet. I'm going to tell him that, if nobody else wants here, and he gets her housebroken, he can bring her home with him.

When he was in Iraq for Desert Storm, the same thing happened! Two little puppies showed up and they named them "Scud" and "Mine Dog". They weren't allowed to bring them in their tents, and they wouldn't leave, so they built little sandbag bunkers for them and put blankets in there - and they slept there. They went home with one of the soldiers.

    Is that sweet or what?!?!

    Thanks for the siggy, Lexi_Lover!

That is very sweet of your husband to take in the dog, and help her out.

That's a man after our hearts, for sure! Tell him we'd love to see a pic of them both. I hope you get to keep her. That would be so cool.

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
    I miss you

I hear you whimper in your sleep
I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.

Fur as dark as the night.
    Join me on this flight.
Paws of love that follow me.
In my heart you'll forever be.

How I wish I could hold you near.
Turn back time to make it so.
Hug you close and never let go.

That is so sweet. One of the shelters nearby here has been working with the US military to bring dogs and cats from Iraq back here so they can have a better chance at having a good life.

Congratulations to your husband and his buddies for taking care of that puppy. It must give them some comfort to see a wagging tail when they come back to their base.
I hope the pup will be adopted and brought here to a loving home.
