    Scat Mat

    Hi,

Have any of you used the Scat Mat (or a similar product) for your dogs? I saw that some people in the cat forums had tried it, but didn't find any reference to it used with dogs.

The URL for the Scat Mat is http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produc...rtial&Np=1&N=0

    Thanks,

    S

I have never even heard of it before you posted this, Smilla. I'd have to hang them from every piece of furniture in my living room to try and stop Mimi and Butter from stretching and scratching, which makes their daddy very mad!!!!

I've never used one, but I'll give you a tip that Aly always gives, that I've used. You know those clear mats that you get to protect your carpeting? Get one of those and turn it upside down, so the 'pokey' things are sticking up. Place it where ever you don't want the Lefty to go. It worked great for Chester & Millie. I used it to keep them off the back of our new leather couch.

Much cheaper than a scat mat, and you can get one at Walmart. Plus, it's multifunctional!

I have. I bought it to keep the cats off the cupboards at night--one of them, still unidentified, likes to pee on the cupboard. It had an unexpected bonus of stopping a counter surfing malamute!

    Update

Well, I bought one, and returned it today. I was going to put it by the front door, to keep Lefty from jumping against the window and scaring the mailman. The behaviorist said it probably wasn't a good idea for a dog already as anxious as Lefty. Rather than give him the run of the house, we may end up gating him upstairs.

My husband and I did entertain ourselves for a few moments by trying it out on ourselves.
