This must be the world's greatest update
thought I’d drop you both a line to let you know how our buddies are doing. I’m so happy I adopted them!
They all now have new names:
Rhett is now Cooper – as in he flew the coop he was hiding in under the desk and will now let me brush him and scratch his back – just as long as I am sitting! He likes the catnip toys and has adopted hiding places in both rooms, but will be out and near me when I’m up there with them. He’s a buddy and will sit at the top of the stairs at the baby gate watching me downstairs.
Tang is now Maizie – as in Daisy Head Maizie, a favorite Dr. Seuss book of mine. She likes to know where I am when I visit them on their floor – she’s always watching! When I sit on the bed she jumps up and walks around me, but runs off if I try to touch her. She likes to play with the fleece toy – it has something like a long tail made out of fleece which she likes to chase, capture, and chew. I’ve been able to pet her and brush her, but not with the regularity that Cooper has developed.
Barbara Ann is now Bessie – just cause she’s a Bessie! She is always ready to eat the canned food and I sometimes need to watch to be sure she doesn’t eat it all! Her purr is quite loud, likes her back and neck scratched, has taken every toy for a test run, and is allowing me to pick her up and snuggle – but only when she doesn’t have other plans! For now she’s the most active!
I think they have all made a home for themselves on my second floor. They are using both rooms, give each other space – I haven’t heard or seen any fights, snuggle together whenever that awful vacuum makes an appearance, and seem more comfortable with me when I go up to visit. I wish I had digital pictures to share; I just haven’t made it into that area yet!
I’m enjoying each day with them!
