I guess you could say T-Na OR Tee-Na not too difficult!

My name is Shanna.
It's pronounced Shan-nuh. It rhymes with banana. It sounds just exactly like it's spelled. One would think it would be a no-brainer.
It is not Shawn-nuh. Or Sheen-nuh. Or Shane-nuh. Or Shan-nun. Or Shawn-nun.
I often wonder if they still teach phoenics in school.
I instantly hang up on people who ask for Shawna, Sheena, Shana, Shannon, Shawnon or Sharon on the phone. It's an instant tip-off to a cold sales call.
"We give dogs the time we can spare, the space we can spare and the love we can spare. And in return, dogs give us their all. It's the best deal man has ever made" - M. Facklam
"We are raised to honor all the wrong explorers and discoverers - thieves planting flags, murderers carrying crosses. Let us at last praise the colonizers of dreams."- P.S. Beagle
"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, A light from the shadows shall spring; Renewed shall be blade that was broken, The crownless again shall be king." - J.R.R. Tolkien
Anna. Rhymes with banana (that's why it's been my nickname my entire life ).
Huney, Bon & Simba-missed so very much

Not really, when you consider that my name is Dutch....not American.Originally posted by popcornbird
That is funny. You'd think people born in other countries would be the ones to pronounce it incorrectly.
My real name is Katharina, prounounced Kat-uh-ree-nuh.. but everyone call me Katie, Kay-tee
Conor!
My name is Elizabeth. Pronounced Ah-Liz-Ah-Beth, Uh-Liz-A-Beth or Eee-Liz-A-Beth. Any way you like it! I say it "Uh-Liz-A-Beth" most of the time. Or you can just call me Liz.
My mom has kind of a cool name - her name is Zlata (she was born in Slovenia). Pronounced kinda like "Szlot-ta," two syllables. That always messes people up. We've heard:
Zah-lah-tah
Zel-ah-tah
Sall-ah-tah
Zelda (?? don't know where people get that one, but she gets called it often!!)
Lah-tah
But, it's understandable, so we don't mind. That's why she named me something easy, something I could make a nickname out of if I didn't like it. Mom goes by Z or Z.Z. a lot for a nickname.

Joe-hawn-ah. Johanna. Not simple. Really not simple. Mispronounced ALL the time. Jo-ANNA, Jo-hanna, Jill Hanna (very often, which surprises me). About 10% call me Joh....
I can always tell if someone is a friend of mine by the way they pronounce my name (over the phone....in person, I recognize my friends, usually).
I have to tell my husband that I was right. Every time I say your name he corrects me and says it's Jo-Anna. I'm glad you replied to this post. I love being right!!!!
