Unhappy I had to put my Cockatiel to sleep today

She was pretty old, but in less than 24 hours she went from more or less fine, to not being able to pick her head up off the cage bottom. Her name was Pretty Boy, which I know is a strange name for a girl. I got her about 5 years ago from my boyfriend's grandpa when his grandma died. She came with the name Pretty Boy and I wasn't about to change it. I think Pretty Boy was at least 18 years old. I felt terrible having to make the decision to put her down, but I didn't want her to suffer. I don't have many pictures of Pretty Boy because she didn't like to be photographed. She was loved, will be missed, and was a very special bird.

Soar high and fly free at the RB Pretty Boy. You were lucky to have such a loving home.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand and strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming WOO HOO - What a Ride!

My boyfriend's brother got married this weekend and his grandpa was in town. He told me Pretty Boy was 6 or 7 years old when they got her and they had her for 10 years before I took her. I had her for 6 years, so that means Pretty Boy was about 23 years old! That's my age! I had no idea she was that old. I still miss her, but it helps to know she led a long life.
