    Philadelphia Dog Show - 11/16/03

Today we went to the Philadelphia Dog Show in Ft. Washington, PA. About half of the pictures that I took turned out really dark as the lighting was not that good in the rings and my flash is not the best. Most of my well lit ones were behind the scenes which is a more fun place anyway. Hubby took lots more so maybe I can post some of his when he gets them into his computer. Here's a little of what we saw. As you can maybe guess, many of mine were of poodles. The grooming left me breathless. Bella looks like a raggamuffin by comparison.

    Getting all dolled up.

This is Betsy. I wish you could see her better. That is such a problem with black dogs as I well know! She just took my breath away and won Best of Non-Sporting! We didn't stay to see who won Best of Show as it was getting late, but I had my fingers crossed for her. She was just stunning!

This sweetie is a long lost relative of Dale's. He is from Dale's breeder, however another litter.

Lastly, I just had to get my "puggily fix!" How precious was this little one!!

Last one for now. I could have stolen this little one. Oh how these puggilys make me weak in the knees!

There are a few more here.

I just viewed hubby's pictures and he got some really good ones of the judging, etc. but I probably won't be able to post them until sometime tomorrow. I said to my daughter (Christiansmommy) when we were sitting and watching the judging as each dog would come out....Oh there's a shiba like Kito and there's a chow like Anna_66's Huney and oh there's a golden that Logan would just die for! LOL! PTers are always on my mind! I wish you could have ALL been there today!

Sounds like you had a great time!!! Of course, Bella and Ripley would have won, if they had entered! Were there any good looking GSDs there?? Keep the pics coming!!!

Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! The Dog Show was awesome! Pam and I made plans to meet up, but her ringer was off, my voice mail didn't work, but turned out, we were minutes and aisles away from each other! We compared what we saw and just missed each other! The place was jammed packed! Jackie..we both saw the Standard Schnauzers.(still thought of you) and SUE!! I almost cried when I saw those Great Pyrs!!! OMG! Saw a Binxy and so many Mastiffs and Ridges! Oodles of Goldens (of course) Pam stayed longer than I did and I didn't know we could have gone behind black curtains and seen more competitions, grooming and other breeds. I was kissed and slurped and one Golden put his head down between my knees and didn't want me stop ear rubbies!!!! Ah! I went to heaven for sure! I also met one of the guys from the SPCA where I adopted Klo and he remembered me! I promised to stop by this week for her monthly "hello, see how fantastic I look" visits!! In fact, BTW, Pam had just walked away from the toy poodle showing as I walked up. She had been to my right (along with a million other people) but from our talk tonight, we probably had our backs to each other!!!!

Thanks for posting you two. I can't wait to check out all the pictures in your album, Pam. I hope there are at least a few of you and the gang. You and K9 Karen missing each other is the pits.

Here are my hubby's pictures. You will see that his camera had no trouble with lighting, unlike mine where I had to delete over half of them. I have also added more to my Imagestation album (all his). Here's a close-up of one of Bella's long lost cousins!

Betsy - the winner of Non-Sporting.

    Anticipating the judge's decision...

Emily, can you see the little shiba in this group - 4th from the front? What a cutie!

Amy, there were SO MANY huskies. I do believe there may have been more huskies than any other breed there. I tried so hard to get good pictures of several different breeds and alas they were all dark! I thought I had a pretty GSD for you Sue but once again it was dark. With all of the people around and not much room to sort of "step back" get a good shot I was disappointed at how many of what I thought were good shots had to wind up deleted. We never saw any collies or shelties, although they were probably judged in the mornig (before we got there) but the winners should have been hanging around somewhere for the final judging. Robyn had wanted to see the Irish Wolfhounds but we couldn't find them either. I am sure Karen and I probably walked right by each other! My brother and his wife were there and I couldn't find them either. Oh well, we had a wonderful day and that is the most important thing. Hope you all enjoyed. Robyn may have some more to add.

I'm so jealous, Pam and Karen! What fun!! Bench shows are the best! But I agree with everyone else...the Poodles are stunning but they don't hold a candle to Bella and Ripley!! That's a bummer that you two managed to miss each other! Can't wait to check out the other pictures!
