Hello, I'm a new member here but very excited to have come across this site. Briefly, about me, I'm a 28-year-old "mom" to two dogs and 3 birds. I'm a lover of all creatures but on a soul to soul level, I connect with dogs the most. When I look at pictures of dogs or see them on TV, there is something about gazing at them that makes my heart just ache with pure adoration and love. All the pictures at this site are a treasure trove that captures the pure essence of the beautiful creature that is dog. My heart is moved by them in the same way a heartfelt musical piece can move me. I could very happily spend the rest of my days in the presence of dogs 24/7, old or young, wet or dry, dirty or clean, it matters not. But enough about me, and on to what REALLY matters and that is to introduce my babies.
First, there is my girl Tasha. I could go into the tale of her adoption from the local shelter but I know I would get too long winded and at the moment, I merely want to make an introduction, not start a novel. Tasha is a shepherd and greyhound mix, now about 5 years old. Generally she is shy and wary of strangers, but with my husband and I, she turns on the charm and is quite confident. Of the two dogs, she is the alpha. A couple of my favorite pics of her I'd like to share. The first, her most common sleeping position in which she has the endearing habit of curling up in a tight little ball, tucking those long thin legs in and her tail over her nose. The second is my very favorite picture of her, capturing her elegant grace and soulful eyes.
Next is Tommy, a beautiful red golden retriever who came into my life at 6 months of age after being rescued from a neglectful home where he was not wanted. Tommy is now 3 years old, and I have never known a dog to revel in human touch the way this boy does. He literally falls over in ecstacy whenever someone bends down to pet him. It never gets old to him, and he will lay in what almost seems like a hypnotized state until the contact ceases, whether it lasts 5 minutes or an hour. These pictures are some of my favorites. His eyes are just so full of feeling.
First, a late summer shot of him playing in his kiddie pool with an apple he found in the yard from one of the apple trees. He's always happiest with something to hold onto in his mouth.
Next, I just love this shot of him with his impish delight as he shows me his oversized mutilated tennis ball.
Finally, this shot I actually took a week or so ago during our first real snowfall of the season.
I hope these pictures bring at least small measure of the joy to some of you that they bring to me every day.
