Dog Food!

Can you guys advise me on a good dry dog food? I just wanna see how Finny would do with some else...hes eating eukanuba right now...vet advised, but i dunno...it just seems like he HARDLY eats...and im serious. Today he eatreally bad...maybe a cup for all day long. I dont free feed, either. Could it be that he odesn't like it? or is it just a stage?

I need more info. to understand why he isn't eating well...How old is your dog? If it is a puppy then it is possible that it is just a phase. If you switched foods recently it is possible that he doesn't like it.Has he always ate Eukanuba?
Why was Eukanuba vet. advised? Does he have allergies or some health problems? Or just a recommendation?
Before switching to another food you should try to see what is making Finney not want to eat. It may not be because of the food.It could also be a sign of health problems.I don't mean to scare you but like i said i need more info. It could be a number of things as to why he isn't eating well.
Has your home enviroment changed any lately?
dogs can be stressed by changes and then won't eat well, among other things.

I've found that adding a little warm water to the dry kibble makes it more appealing. You might want to try that on a day that Finny is refusing his food.

My parent's cocker spaniel is the same way. I've never seen a dog eat so little yet be so active! He's been a poor eater since he was a little puppy, and they've switched foods for him several times over the past year and a half. They've tried wetting the food, adding incentives like yogurt, veggies, even cereal, and he just doesn't like to eat! He is supposed to get about two cups a day, but usually ends up eating only about 1 cup. He is just under thirty pounds, and very solid - no fat on him, he's all muscle! Just goes to show that every dog is different, and those 'feeding recommendations' on the food bags are just generalities!
I wouldn't worry too much about Finny. Is he energetic? growing at a proper rate? is his coat healthy? If you answered yes to those, then Finny is probably fine - he's just watching his figure! As always, though, talk to your vet if you are concerned!

Thanks for your help! O.k, Finny is a four month old puppy, and eukanuba was vetadvised because it is balenced out good and has a lot of portien and just enough fat. Nope, he doesn't have any allergies, and hes always eat eukanuba, since we got him ,and before.

Yeah, thats a good idea, I will try that. He eats very well when I put a tablespoon of veg. oil in it, and I do that once a week. He is VERY active ( hopefully a puppy thing, I think it is)

i have a six months old shih tzu.and she is going through this phase as well.i have been feeding her eukanuba chicken and i tried switching to eukanuba's lamb and rice but she got tired of it after abt 2 days

Sounds like Finny is just going through a phase then. I agree you could try to add something to his food to intice(sp) him to eat a little more. As long as he has a clean bill of health from your vet. then he is probably satisfied with the amount he eats. All dogs are different.And the recommended amount for food on the package is just that,recommended. It is to give you some idea of about how much they may need to eat.Just experiment a little and see what foods Finny likes. *Remember Onions and chocolate are toxic to dogs.*
