I'm sorry you missed the cat show. The expression on that cats face is priceless. AmberLee and I are going to a cat show this weekend and I'll try to take a lot of pics.

Aww...too bad you missed it. Cat shows are fun, especially when you can get other PT'ers to meet you there.

I have never been to a cat show! I HAVE been to dog shows but did not really think you could "show" a cat in this way. I know mine would never put up with it. But, I did a quick "cat show" check on google and found that there is a cat fancier show here in nearby Dayton on Nov 8 and 9. Next weekend! Are these open to the public? Will it likely be advertized in the newspaper? (Did not say where it would be held) About how much do they cost to go see? Anyone on PT from the Dayton area?? Sounds like something that would be interesting to see - dog shows are always great fun (we usually end up giggling though) Some of the dogs are so docile I could swear they were drugged. Also fun to watch them run around the floor with their owners. Oh and some are so gorgeous!! But how in the world do they get cats to hold still???

Sirrahbed, the cat shows that I've been to have been open to the public and usually cost from $5-$8 to attend. Sometimes there are also parking fees too. They usually also advertise them in the paper or on a website.

There have been from 6-8 judging rings and it's quite busy with people moving their cats from ring to ring as the announcer calls their numbers. Some of the judges talk to the audience and explain what they are looking for and how they are judging the cat. You can usually ask them questions too.

There are also many vendors selling cat products such as shirts, cat trees, cat toys, cat beds etc. They also usually have a raffle going on and many great prizes to win. AmberLee has won 2 times.

You can also walk around and look at all of the cats in their cages but please don't touch them unless you ask the owner first. Some people don't want their cats touched. I've found that most people are very nice and will let you take pictures and pet their cats. They also love to talk about them.

I've always had a great time at all of the cat shows and I'm sure I'll have a great time this weekend too.

Thank you, krazyabout katz, for all of the cat show information. This is exactly what I wanted to know - sounds similar to dog shows. I have marked my calendar and hubby and I will plan to attend next weekend. Really sounds like fun!!! Thanks again! Guess I had better bring some $$ because I really want a cat condo or tree of some sort - well EMILY & ELIOT want it!!!

PS anyone else in Dayton, Ohio area and planning to attend the Cat Show on Nov 8-9?

Cat shows are a lot of fun! I've only been to two and I was really disappointed that I wasn't able to attend the large cat show this past summer.

I just love looking at all the breeds and seeing the judging of the cats. Plus, all the vendors selling cool cat products is an enticement too!

If you go, make sure you take pictures and post them here! We love to see them.
