    Killian's Surgery

As some of you know, Killian had a fast growing lump that doubled it's size in two weeks and then slowed down. As luck would have it, his vet who knows his liver and autoimmune diseases well, was out of town on vacation!! Today was her first day back and she saw Killian. She was not happy with the lump and aspirated it and looked at it under the microscope. She saw tumor cells, definitely not a cyst. She removed the tumor with Killian only being under local anesthesia (his liver can't take being put under). I will be on pins and needles for 5 days till the biopsy is back. If it is cancerous, we can only hope for "clean margins" in removal. His liver could not take chemo.

Again, please pray for brave Killian. They were amazed at how well he did with only a local. He did not go to bite anyone. They said that he is such a good boy.

Killian, you are a good boy. And you and your mom will be in our prayers while you await the news from your vet.

Sue, hang in there. We're here for you if you need us! My heart does a flip-flop every time I see that you have posted here. This time was no exception.

Hugs to you, and Killian and Shiloh.

I'm so glad that he was such a good boy

Anyone know anything about spindle cell tumors. The vet thought that she saw them on the slides. I've read on the internet that they could be benign or malignant, they could go either way. I'm going back to research more on the internet.

Thank you for all your prayers.

    Sue,

You can count on plenty of prayers from my house for Killian,
and for you. Hang in there. I certainly hope he has pain meds
that he can tolerate should he become very uncomfortable after
the "local" wears off. Poor baby. Love ya handsome fella &
we all want you to feel better soon.

Liz, he can only take Ascriptin. I'm waiting for him to become uncomfortable and then give it to him. If not, I will give him some with his dinner anyway.

Oh, I have to stop looking on the internet. It mentions spindle cell sarcoma in GSDs.... I should just wait and not work myself up into a frenzy.....

Like Logan, my stomach does a major flip with every "Killian" post in "Health." I'm glad it's finally done; I know the wait will be so hard. But all of us here are with you and praying for our Killian. What a good boy!! I can't believe he tolerated it under local, with barely a blink. He is amazing Sue; such a fighter, and I know you're so proud of him. Me and Star and Cody are sending you both our love and our prayers for a good report on Monday. We're with you Sue, always. Sue this topic also shook me. What Killian has gone through already and now this, and undergoing the biopsy without being "under" and not reacting negatively toward anyone! Gosh, Killian you are awesome! It almost makes one think that, after so many visits to the white coats, he understands you are all are trying to help him. I will certainly keep your sweetie in my prayers. One little piece of advice from me *the worry wart*, is for the next 5 days to stay off the computer and stop reading things. I can't tell you how often I have become needlessly upset because of things I have read. The need for knowledge is strong but I don't want you getting worked up needlessly. Easy for me to say, right? (((Hugs))) to you as you wait and kisses for Killian as we pray for a "benign" result!

Oh boy it's going to be a long 5 days for all of us. Prayers going out for little Killian.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand and strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming WOO HOO - What a Ride!
